On piracy/copyright

TLDR:
To downloaders: have a heart. The mp3's you downloaded costs sweat and tears and probably blood. Give the team responsible what they deserve to get
To entertainment decision makers: focus on how to educate, not suffocate. Punishment rarely achieves anything.

Once upon a time, like any normal teenager, I downloaded all my music, games amongst other things. I recall having a favourite saying that, "If it exists, it can be obtained from the internet... free of charge." Those were the days when I would site skip from site to site to "scab" free stuff. mp3's, videos, games, softwares... You name it.

Thinking back on those days, I did not feel remorseful. I feel great, able to get things free, whilst others have to pay for it. I was young, back then. But at the same time, I was rebellious and poor. I felt by getting things illegally made me cool and smart. I could share this knowledge with my friends and boost my epeen. However, more so than that, I did not have a lot of money. We did not have a lot of money. So when my strong desire to enjoy the good stuff, be it music or games or whatever, clashes with my then still immature morality, I ended up resorting to downloading.

As I grew older, my sense of moral fortified. I started earning my own money, and able to spend it my own way. Slowly but surely, I stopped downloading where I can obtain it legally. Clearly, circumstance were not the only factors influencing the spending behaviour. Some friends around me still download. Some no longer do.

Whilst I agree that personal sense of justice vary from person to person, education play an important part as well. I still remember one of the few episodes of television dramas, which carried an overly cliche and badly done educational message about the harm downloading/piracy (ironically in the PRC, where piracy is at its worst). From that day on, I started changing my consuming habit.

Of course, I still download mp3's and video's. My justification is that I will pay for the products that I enjoy. I still remember downloading the entire new release, whilst asking a friend to buy me the CD. I still have not got those cd yet (for one reason or another), but I ensure the content I enjoy are properly rewarded.

Piracy/Illegal downloading will still persist. What the entertainment giants need is not tougher penalty laws to penalise those who do download, because the rebellious nature of teenagers will always lead them to find an alternative. What urgently needed is the (right) education that a job well done should be rewarded accordingly. Once this idea seeps through the next generation, then the method of delivering entertainment media can be a lot more open as well.

Learning Japanese? Talk to a Japanese.

Really helps! Find a penpal, chat on MSN or Skype, or just exchange letters.

Just had my very first conversation with a Japanese friend I found on www.Japan-Guide.com

Quite a cool website, definitely check it out if you intend to practice your Japanese as you learn it.

Warcraft: (a very subjective list of) 10 most important characters

In 9th place:

Old Gods
Race Old God
Title Old God of Chaos (C’thun) and Death (Yogg-Saron), Fiend of a Thousand Faces (Yogg-Saron)

When the world of Azeroth was young, the Old Gods were ancient beings of godlike power, who lead the chaotic elemental lords of the world. However, the coming of the Titans, whose goal was to create a new world and bring order to Azeroth, eventually lead to their defeat. Knowing that with their destruction, the world of Azeroth would fall into destruction, the Titans imprisoned them deep below the earth and used their power to sustain the world. Despite their imprisonment, they continued to exert their influence over the world over many events, such as the Curse of Flesh which weakened the primitive races of the world (leading to their evolution into current known races). They were also behind the corruption of Deathwing, Lord of the Black Dragonflight, and ultimately lead to his betrayal during the War of the Ancients. So far, of the 5 Old Gods of the world, one is dead with its corpse in Darkshore, C’thun is defeated in Silithus, Yogg-saron is defeated in Ulduar, and the remaining two (the Emerald Nightmare and the Old God of the Maelstrom, or possibly they are the same and there is one more) are still lurking deep beneath the world, awaiting vengeance upon the Titans and the mortal races of Azeroth.

"I am the lucid dream.
The monster in your nightmares.
The fiend of a thousand faces.
Cower before my true form.
BOW DOWN BEFORE THE GOD OF DEATH!"

Warcraft: (a very subjective list of) 10 most important characters

(I've convinced a geeky friend to write a bit, since he ALWAYS have so many ideas and things to talk to me about.)

In 10th place:

Malfurion Stormrage
Race Night Elf
Title Shan’do, the Archdruid

Malfurion Stormrage was the first disciple of druidism trained by the Night Elf demigod Cenarius. In the following invasion from the Burning Legion, he and his lover, Tyrande Whisperwind, lead the Night Elves in the War of the Ancients more than ten thousand years ago. Following the defeat of the Burning Legion, he returned to his hibernation in the Emerald Dream. With the return of the Burning Legion during the events of the Third War, he was awakened by Tyrande to lead the Night Elves to battle in Kalimdor. Under the persuasion of the Prophet, the Night Elves formed an alliance with the Humans and Orcs, and Malfurion personally lead the final attack to defeat Archimonde the Defiler, Lord of the Legion. Following the defeat of the Burning Legion, Malfurion was briefly involved with the pursuit of his brother, Illidan Stormrage, but eventually pardoned him. After these timed of war, Malfurion returned to his slumbers in the wilds. However, deep within the Emerald Dream, an evil being known as the Nightmare rises. Malfurion was said to be lost within the dream, but he will eventually make his return to guide his people against the Nightmare’s influence over Azeroth…

MH3 Troll + Disaster stroke, PC died + SC2

So did my best to troll the other day.

I went into a 51+ recruiting room for some random runs, this guy, HR51 in full Urag+ and a HBG came in, said nothing and posted a jho quest. Since I was bored and totally got put off by his attitude, I decided to troll him, and have some practice hammering Jho. I swapped to full vangis with jho hammer P, proceed to warn him I've done nothing but leech jho for to get my entire set (I actually lanced). Then I told him I just sold my amphirite P because I think lance's too boring (which is kind of true).

The run begins with me clumsy trying to find openings to SP the very fast moving head, eventually fails a lot because of the lag. However, as the run goes on, although jho's head is still really really far away, its movement becomes a lot easier to predict.

It seems, lvl2 charge is easier to land/faster than super pounds. You can get jibbed by the jump maul really easily in rage mode if you open yourself after SP. Same deal when it's hungry. It might bite when it turns. Unlike lance though, you can't counter, so out range and then lvl2 charge on the head (which is kind of tricky).

Rock throw should be a free SP, if you know where to aim. Dragon breath's way too dangerous... just stay away. Actually got 1 stun! yay go me!

The troll ended as soon as we got it to limp. An LS died and that's 3/3 for us. Wish I had video'ed it.

HDD failure during a black out... No HD PVR for a while... No editing for a while...

That's... quite sad...

SC2:WoL is AWESOME. I'll probably throw in a proper review later on, but call me a fan boy, on the release day, I've literally done nothing but installing(2hrs), patching(1/2 hr) and playing(10min) that thing.

But of course, this only adds insult to injury as my computer lies in a state of slumber...
